  In second grade my son began falling behind in class and defied his teacher during the last weeks of the year. He continued on course through third grade and by fourth grade was refusing to do homework at home and at school. He fell further behind, began acting out at school and became aggressive, even threatening, with his friends. The school psych tried to help but was unable to and even the help of an outside psychologist had no positive effects. At home he was regressing emotionally. I was nearing my wits' end trying to find the right kind of help. Then I saw an ad for the Brain Balance Achievement Centers. The ad pinpointed many of the behavioral issues we faced, and after visiting during an Open House, I decided it was worth a try. My son was actually excited to be there.
  My son's fifth grade year progressed more smoothly, with no defiance at school and much more participation in class.
  Now in sixth grade, he is able to use his skills, and with the help of the right teacher, he has been able to keep up with his lessons, has much better relationships with the kids in his class and his friends, and has stayed out of the vice principal and counselor offices for the entire school year.

  As a previous employee of Brain Balance in Golden, I can honestly say that it was the best job I have ever had. Not only was it extremely rewarding to witness the positive changes and progress the students made, but the entire staff was just awesome and so kind to one another. Most importantly, the kids had coaches, teachers and directors that deeply cared about them and their success through the program.
  
  While I was an employee at Brain Balance, I also saw things from a different perspective when my younger brother went through the program. My brother was twenty-one years old when he started at brain balance. Throughout his entire life, he struggled academically and socially. My mother and father tried everything in order to help him, but nothing seemed to really work. He went through his entire academic career in the special education program in school and graduated high school still struggling academically. His confidence was very low. He had dreams and goals for the future but had absolutely no idea as to how to even begin to reach them. As soon as I started work at Brain Balance I wasted no time trying to get my brother to come in.
  
  Two weeks into his program, we all started to notice small changes, mainly socially at first. He was becoming so much more confident in himself! As he progressed through the program, his academics improved too! His reading became more fluent and smooth and his handwriting was actually neat by the end. I will never forget the day I saw him sitting on the couch at our house, reading a book! My brother never cared to read anything before Brain Balance. He began making friends and acting more age appropriate. While there were so many awesome moments like this throughout his experience, the best were when he got promoted at work..not once.. But TWICE! He grew so much confidence and motivation to do his job and none of this would have been possible without Brain Balance.
  
  Throughout my brother's entire experience, I have seen my dad nearly cry and my mom bawl her eyes out because they are just so happy and proud of the success of their son. My mom has said many times "I wish I would have known about this place while he was in school so that he could have gotten the help a long time ago". However, my brother's story demonstrates that it is NEVER too late!
  
  I know this review is extremely long, but I could honestly write a novel about brain balance and probably still have more to say about my love for this place! I've seen it work for my brother, and I've seen it work for literally every single student, no matter their age.
  
  If your child is struggling in ANY way, Brain Balance can and will help! Do not hesitate! This place is AMAZING and the staff in Golden is incredible!!
